Two parents talking through the high-stakes bedtime negotiations, tiny-lawyer arguments, and refusing-to-wear-pants stand-offs — recorded after the kids are finally asleep.
New episodes land here first — real conversations about real kids, no script, no lecture.
In this episode of ParentRQ, we talk about what it really means to understand the child in front of you. Every child experiences the world differently, and the approach that works for one child may not work for another. David, founder of Godmother, shares the experiences that led him to build Godmother, including a personal moment at his son’s birthday party that changed the way he understood his daughter.
Maybe your child negotiates like a tiny lawyer. Another one cries if you breathe wrong near the cereal. The advice out there is written for the average of every kid on earth — which means it’s written for no one! This podcast is built around your actual, specific, currently-refusing-to-wear-pants kid — we talk about it out loud, sometimes sardonically, over coffee that’s gone cold.
You’re not interested how to parent generic children. We show you how to parent your unique scion.
You’re not broken and neither are they. We help you "click".
Parenting can feel hard and lonely. We don’t sugarcoat, just hold your hand.
We started this podcast because we’re parents who are committed to the idea that every child deserves to be understood.
Caitlin has dragged three kids across 25 countries and all 7 continents, which means she’s negotiated bedtime in more time zones than most people have visited. She studied at Oxford, got her MBA from Biola, and spent 15 years building sales teams for people like Deepak Chopra — before realizing her hardest job was the one at home. She’s now finishing a PhD in Somatic Psychology, using brain-and-body techniques (part ancient wisdom, part actual neuroscience) to work with chronic pain. Co-founder of Godmother. Often loses arguments to her own kids.
David wrote a book called “Uncollared” about learning to trust your own instincts again — good advice for a 2am wake-up call, when every app and in-law has a different opinion and you just have to pick one. He spent a decade in Europe studying philosophy, picked up Spanish, Italian, and German along the way, got an MBA from Acton, and now runs revenue as VP & CRO at TRIUNE Health Group by day. Godmother exists because of one specific rough night with his own daughter and the realization that nobody hands you a manual for the most important role of your life. So he started building one. Occasionally still Googles things at 2am anyway.
